From the Outgoing Alumni Association President

SAIDI Foundation attending members missed you last 28 September 2006 "Coming Home Get Together". On this day, we celebrated, too, the 22nd death anniversary of our Foundress, Sr. Jackie E. Blondin, MIC.

There was a small group of alumni/alumnae who braved the early winds and rains that eventually developed into raging winds and rains by lunch time. This was the unforgettable "Milenyo" typhoon that unleashed wrath all over Luzon! Our campus was not spared. But only the trees were hit. None of the buildings was damaged.

There was a graduation rite (yes, you bet! Mario Castillo and Gaspar Gayona were the Milenyo Graduates from the Ph.D in OD Program); a simple art painting contest and, a reorganization meeting of the SAIDI School of OD Alumni. There are two Dancing Instructors who came with Art and Vangie Orosco but the loss of electric power spoiled our chances to display the dancing feet we have.

And now the announcement from our Alumni reorganization meeting:

On this day, those present managed to form an Ad Hoc alumni body to revive our Alumni Association.

And the following were elected as Ad Hoc Officers - for two years (September 2006 - September 2008) of the Alumni Association.

• President: Sr. Flor Pauline Duran, O. L. Carm.
• Vice-President: Rey Fuentez
• Treasurer: Vangie O. Orosco
• Secretary: Bess Yap
• Pro: assisted by a PRO for Mindanao : Noel Silan

The Ad Hoc officers met for the first time to undertake their 2-year work for the Alumni Association at Westin Plaza last 17 November 2006. The main discussion was a review of the Articles of Incorporation and By Laws of the Alumni Association. Dr. Yap was tasked to finetune the terms that were discussed. And she will present her "module" at a meeting called for this purpose this December. In addition, the Ad Hoc Officers, through its President, Sr. Flor Pauline Duran, have touched base both with the President, Dr. Eli Santos and the Dean, Dr. Rose O. Fuentes soliciting suggestions of collaboration between the Alumni Association & the School of OD.

May I enjoin all of us to strive and make our association breathed with delight and great cheers. In so doing, then we bring the cause of our Alma Mater to greater heights.
