2008 Schedule of AI Workshops
January 9-11, 2008
AI Basic Orientation Workshop
February 28-29, 2008
AI as a Tool for Team Building
Using Appreciative Inquiry with teams creates a climate that sustains synergy and collaboration. The principles and steps of appreciative inquiry are presented and compared with traditional teambuilding initiatives. Shame and pride are discussed as emotions with pivotal effects on individual and group development. We then examine how sharing stories of success builds team cohesion. The appreciative team process is useful in almost any kind of team initiative:
- Newly formed teams that want to quickly establish effective roles, responsibilities and norms
- Teams aiming for more effective collaboration
- Ongoing project teams facing special challenges
- Teams needing renewal or clearer focus
- Leadership teams doing strategic planning
March 14-15, 2008
Appreciative Leadership
The Appreciative Leadership is an
inquiry-based, results-oriented process. It is designed to lead you
through a series of powerful learning activities that will allow you to
identify and optimize your "Leadership High-Performance Pattern". Your
Leadership High-Performance Pattern is the constellation strengths,
assets, capacities, capabilities, beliefs, values, approaches, best
practices, opportunities, dreams, and goals that, when maximized,
allows you to achieve sustained personal and professional leadership
excellence and to experience joy and excitement in your life and work.
April 24-25, 2008
Appreciative Mentoring

Appreciative Facilitation
Facilitation is about making life
easier for people. In organizations there is a growing demand for
skilled facilitation to bring the best out of people and groups when
planning and implementing large and small organizational change efforts.
Appreciative Facilitation is about a
particular approach to facilitation, an approach which uses
Appreciative Inquiry as the process model of choice for large group
interactions.
June 19-20, 2008
AI as Tool for Project Management
You can think of most aspects of your
job in terms of project management, whether the task is large or small.
If we apply some of the rigour of excellent project management, most of
us will find we achieve a lot more with our time. Project management is
also relevant as increasingly we work with project groups, across
functions, across disciplines and across organizations to achieve
results. This networked approach to our work demands that we think in
terms of managing a number of diverse and discreet projects at any one
time.
July 17-18, 2008
Appreciative Living
Appreciative Living uses the
foundational principles of Appreciative Inquiry in creating the life of
your dreams. Appreciative Living shifts one`s
future by creating inspiring new images of what he/she wants, and then
making small changes in the present that align with the new images. In
this workshop, the participant learns simple ways to get clear about
what he/she really wants, to focus on waht he/she most desires, and to
take an inspired action to make these happen.
August 28-30, 2008
AI Basic Orientation Workshop
Appreciative Inquiry is the cooperative
search for the best in people, their organizations, and the world
around them. It involves systematic discover of what gives a system `life`
when it is most effective and capable in economic, ecological, and
human terms. AI involves the art and practice of asking questions that
strenghten a systems capacity to heighten positive potential. It
mobilizes inquiry through crafting an "unconditional positive question` often involving hundreds or sometimes thousands of people." The workshop aims:
- To introduce the concept of AI
- To understand how to use AI creative planning for life - both personally and professionally
- To taste` crafting the Appreciative Protocols, Appreciative Conversations and the Provocative Propositions
September 25-26, 2008
AI as Tool for Research for Change
AI is not only an OD approach, useful
for taking organizations forward, but it also has the potential to
contribute research-derived knowledge, in ways that stem from the
observation that its methodology can serve to place other research
findings and methodological debates in sharper focus.
AI Research is communal, in that it involves collective interaction to share and explore experiences.
October 23-24, 2008
AI as Tool for Culture Re-Orientation
Appreciative Inquiry provides a social
context where cultures may be viewed more as similarities between and
among people rather than differences. Any challenge to integration, to
people working together, the best starting point is culture. "Culture
is the context in which things happen; out of context, even legal
matters lack significance." Given this landscape, AI offers one a way
of thinking, a process to choose and remain steadfast in celebrating
the things that work. Those that make things earn results; best
practices, strenghts and positive factors.
November 20-21, 2008
